Welcome to a different kind of community
ThriftRunner is being built as a nationwide home for thrift discovery: a place to find thrift stores, explore thrift finds and coherent bundles, meet Registered Thrift Runners, experience participating storefronts, and help one another search for the things that matter.
THRIFT is the heart of the experience. TREND brings the living network together. Marketplace supports the community with simple buying and selling—but Marketplace is not the reason ThriftRunner exists.
A request that keeps moving
Instead of leaving a request on a bulletin board and hoping someone notices, an eligible member’s Wish List will move into TREND under their chosen privacy and reach settings.
A member describes the thrift item they hope to find.
TREND shares it with eligible participating Runners and stores.
A participant may spot a possible match while searching or shopping.
The member decides whether to continue the conversation.
An Active Wish List is intended to be matched and presented again to eligible participants over time—not treated as a one-time post. It may circulate again after meaningful updates or an expanded search area, with approved reminders through future TREND dashboards, private inboxes, notification feeds, optional digests, or mobile notifications.
The member remains in control. Circulation can pause and must stop when a Wish List is fulfilled, withdrawn, expired, or no longer eligible. Category, location, specialty, privacy, and participation rules will determine who may receive it.
Active Wish Lists are planned membership features. A request does not guarantee a find, transaction, delivery, or successful outcome.

“Evolving” matters because TREND is meant to live and grow—not sit still as a database. New people and stores can join, relationships can develop, Wish Lists can circulate, tours can be published, and participation can change over time.

TRUST
TRUST is the framework being developed for privacy, safety standards, acceptable conduct, listing and membership rules, moderation, reporting, appeals, and transparent enforcement as the community grows.
Standards and policy systems are still in development.
TRAITS
TRAITS is intended to help organize listing details, improve searches, structure Wish Lists, suggest categories, notice missing information, simplify forms, and assist future matching.
People remain in control. TRAITS may suggest and assist; it must not silently publish or change someone’s information, or make final serious enforcement decisions.
Advanced assistance is planned, not currently active.
More than a store listing
We envision digital storefronts that feel like an invitation to visit: rich, human, and connected to the real place behind the screen.
Signature video walking tours, department tours, and accessible introductions.
Store history, mission, community purpose, and owner or manager introductions.
Large photo galleries, Featured Finds, and participating-store events.
These participating-storefront features are planned and will arrive in stages as ThriftRunner develops.
Supporting commerce
Marketplace will support straightforward offers for individual items, vehicles, services, homes and property, jobs, and events. It matters—but it is not the center of ThriftRunner.
Marketplace has no Wanted section. Requests for thrift items belong in Active Wish Lists, where they are designed to keep working through TREND.
